Q+A

Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

The ceremony is taking place at Holy Names Academy in Capitol Hill (Seattle) followed by dinner and dancing at Red Barn Farm (Redmond). Holy Names and Red Barn Farm are a 30 minute drive apart depending on traffic.

Immediately following the Mass at Holy Names we ask that everyone gathers on the front stairs for a quick group photo with the bride and groom before leaving for the reception at Red Barn Farm. After the group picture, feel free to head right over to Red Barn Farm to get the party started!

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

In consideration of venue capacity constraints, we kindly ask that invitations be limited to those directly addressed. We will not be able to accommodate additional guests. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to celebrate with you!

What time should I arrive at Holy Names?

Please arrive at Holy Names 30 minutes prior to the Mass to allow time for parking and to find a seat. The Mass will begin promptly at 2:00pm. Please see the next question for parking information!

Where should I park at Holy names academy?

Complimentary parking is available in the parking garage below Holy Names. Access to the parking garage is available on 22nd Ave East. Once parked, exit the garage on 21st Ave East and then enter the school through the front door. (Please note that the garage is only available for the duration of the wedding ceremony and cars must be removed right after the Mass.)

If elevator access is needed, please park in the parking lot on 22nd Ave (where busses are parked). Someone will open the back door to provide access to the elevator. We will provide a phone number to text if elevator access is needed closer to the wedding date.

Where should I park at Red Barn Farm?

We ask that you please consider taking Uber/Lyft to Red Barn Farm due to limited parking.

If you are planning on driving, please consider parking at the Bear Creek Park and Ride, only an 8 minute Uber ride to the venue.

There is limited parking available onsite at Red Barn Farm for up to 70 cars. Cars can remain overnight but must be removed by 9am the next day 7.28.24.

How Do I RSVP? When is the RSVP Deadline?

Please RSVP through the "RSVP" tab by 5.22.24. After 5.22, RSVPs have been finalized. Please text the bride and groom if you have any questions.

Attire

Suggested dress is cocktail attire, but please wear whatever is comfortable to you! We are just excited to have you celebrate with us! For ladies- please note the chapel is located on the third floor and you will have to walk up stairs so keep that in mind when deciding what shoes to wear . The reception is hosted in a barn so bring your cowboy boots or dancing shoes if you have 'em! Yeehaw!

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be indoors inside the chapel. The reception venue will be mostly indoors in the barn but there is a patio and farm attached to the barn that you can explore!

History of Holy Names Academy

We are so excited to get married at Holy Names Academy! Holy Names has a special place in Catherine's heart as it was where she attended high school . Holy Names Academy is a Catholic private all-girls high school, founded by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in 1880. It is the oldest continually operating school in Washington state. Holy Names Academy was founded before Washington became a state in 1889 and was originally a boarding school. The chapel, where we will be getting married, was built in 1925. We hope you enjoy the beauty and unique history of the Holy Names Academy chapel.

What to expect from a Catholic Mass

We understand that some of our guests are not Catholic and may have not attended a Catholic wedding or Mass before. There will be some similarities to other weddings, but a few things that will be different. There will be times where we will be kneeling, standing, and sitting. Please feel free to join and follow along, or stay seated for the entire Mass. Communion will be served during the Mass and we ask that the bread and wine are only received by baptized Catholics. If you are not Catholic, you may stay in your seat at this time or come up and cross your hands across your chest to receive a blessing. If you have specific questions feel free to reach out to us!

What is the weather like?

Summer in Seattle is the best! It will most likely be very warm during the day and cool off slightly at night. Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors. We'd recommend bringing a few layers in case you get hot or cold.

What should I do if I know I can't make it?

If you cannot make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible by text or email so we can plan accordingly. Please also make sure your RSVP is updated. The earlier you can let us know, the better. Contact information for the bride and groom is available below. Please know that you will be missed but we understand!
